April Fools Proposal

A couple of weeks ago I was able to capture my second proposal! Although I would consider weddings to be pretty high pressure, most of the big moments during a wedding I can expect and be ready for. Proposals, however, are way more unpredictable. Plans can change in minutes, and as a photographer, you need to attempt to not look like a weirdo casually following people with your camera. It sure is a thrill and I was so happy to help out an old high school friend capture his big moment!

Below is their story told by the future Mrs...

"Zak and I met freshman year of college in 2013 after one of my sorority sisters asked if I needed a date to our winter formal since she was going with one of his teammates from the soccer team. I said yes, and she sent a picture of the team and asked which one I wanted to go with. I picked Zak out of that picture, and we started talking and hanging out a little before the formal, hitting it off immediately.

For the next few months, we talked on and off but neither of us were sure we were ready for a steady relationship. When we started hanging out and going on dates more and more, we were in that phase where I wasn't sure if we were "exclusive" so I'd bug Zak about whether or not we were going to start being each other's significant others. On April 1st of 2014, we were hanging out at his apartment at school when he asked me to be his girlfriend. For a split second my eyes lit up, but knowing Zak's history of jokes and pranks I was quickly brought to reality of the date: April Fools. I was immediately so embarrassed when he started laughing and I knew it really was a joke. So mean right?! Luckily he apologized, and a couple months later we were officially together. (He's matured a lot since then!)

Fast-forward to April 1st 2018; Zak and I have been together for nearly four years, both graduated college with honors and have careers we love. After church with both of our family's, we headed to brunch at my favorite spot with views of the Columbus skyline and the Scioto River. My mom asked to get a picture of my sister and I down by the water, so we walked down the hill when everyone stopped walking and Zak went ahead of the group. When we got to the water, Zak said "Remember what I did to you four years ago? I hope this makes up for it." He got down on one knee and asked if I'd be with him forever. Needless to say had I forgave him since then, and I said YES!"

Greece

Although this trip got off to a rocky start, (bad weather, cancelled flights... you know the drill), I can definitely say that I cannot wait to go back to Greece. From the sunsets, to the food, and bee bopping around the country with some of my favorite people, this trip was everything I hoped for and more! Greece was a photographer's dream. The beautiful blue domes and the bright white buildings made every picture feel like a postcard. Even though I did not take as many photos as I would have liked, I was just trying to live my best life... I mean, can you blame me?

Get ready for a wonderful mixture of poorly lit iPhone photos and selfies from my camera to show part of our incredible experience.

There are ruins EVERYWHERE in Greece. We decided to stay close and go to ancient Corinth to see what all the fuss was about!

Behind the Scenes 2017

I can't believe 2017 has actually come to an end. Having 28 weddings my first year of business was just absolutely incredible. I will always remember the nerves I had before each bride walked down the aisle, to the late nights editing with chocolate Chex Mix and New Girl playing in the background. My favorite part of this year was definately all the friends I gained from this side hustle of mine. I am so happy to have chosen this path and can't wait to see what is in store for 2018!

Here are some behind the scene photos of me doing my thing. I'm hoping to get even more selfies with my couples this year!

Perfecting hair, because it is a must.

I honestly have no words other than I was just working those angles!

My goal next year is to get a photo with ALL of my couples!

I had to get a photo with THE CUTEST RING BEARER!

And of course all the selfies. (In the last photo I was helping out a groomsman with a bet. We took a selfie on my camera.) For some reason I couldn't find any selfies with my girl, Roxy. She's the pretty blonde that's always on my story! We love our wedding day selfies! :)

2017 you were AMAZING! I can't wait for 2018!

Snowy Winter Wedding

Emily had been crossing her fingers all morning for snow to fall on her wedding day. Sure enough, some light snow came trickling down as she was getting ready at the church. From then on it was like a fairytale with these huge beautiful flakes falling from the sky making it the first real snowfall of the year. It was amazing to see how excited Emily was, not just about the snow, but that this was the day she was going to marry her best friend. When the church doors opened all you could see were smiles from both of them as well as their family and friends celebrating with them that day.

Everything was too perfect to put into works, so you'll have to check out the photos from their big day below! Thank you to Sam and Emily for letting me capture these special moments for you!

Their love story told by Emily...

"Sam and I met on a cold night in October at a bonfire a mutual friend was having. Sam was making sโ€™mores and I accidentally stole his graham cracker which ended up sparking a conversation on the back of a pickup truck by the fire. We hung out a few times after that and then on a hiking trip he asked me out! We dated for a while and then he proposed to me on Lake Michigan on June 3rd, 2016."

Fall Wedding at Camp Mary Orton

I was so excited to finally head over to Camp Mary Orton for a wedding! We had a decent amount of rainfall the night before and we were all a little worried it would be muddy for all of the adventurous pictures we had planned. We were all up for the challenge anyway and brought our change of shoes to prepare. It did not turn out as muddy as we thought, so we spent a decent amount of time hiking through the woods taking some beautiful portraits.

Regina and Anthony had their two adorable children in their wedding which made it even more special. Regina did her daughter's makeup while they were getting ready, and don't even get me started with their son's bow tie! They were too adorable, I couldn't even take it! This was one of my first weddings that really felt fall themed and I was loving every second of it. Fall is my favorite season so when I see these stunning bouquet arrangements and maroon color schemes I am in heaven! This wedding was absolutely gorgeous and I can't wait to share some more of my favorites!

Classic Wedding at Amelita Mirolo Barn

It was a chilly and rainy morning and I knew many of Kelsey and Brennan's wedding plans would have to be adjusted throughout the day. Thankfully, we had reservations to take some indoor wedding photos at the Ohio State House. This worked out perfectly because we were still able to have their first look outside under the covered columns. It sure didn't look like a rainy day from those photos!

Even though we had plans to walk over to the Scioto Mile, we were able to take some fun bridal party and family photos inside the state house. This was my first time inside and it literally took my breath away! Staying all in one location also gave us plenty of time to take the photos we wanted and more! We were relaxed and had plenty of time to head over to the venue and get ready for the ceremony. The inside of Amelita Mirolo Barn was beautiful and still allowed plenty of light to come in! We made the best of this rainy day and I was so glad to spend it with these two!
